My scheduled posts are failing. Is wordfence to blame?

We recently had a customer whose scheduled posts weren't going live. They had gone through the usual troubleshooting techniques, trying to figure out why and found that disabling Wordfence solved the problem. The customer contacted us and we both began to look at it. We weren't able to duplicate it but after much investigation the customer was able to stumble on the reason. For some reason, WF was blocking his own website ip address.
So, if you have this sort of issue, try whitelisting your server's ip address on the WF options page.
